In 2003, Penn State doctoral alumni were surveyed and asked to rate their preparation in comparison to other school psychologists. By date of degree, the responses were:
Penn State interns rate the quality of their preparation very highly.
Over the past several years students who completed their internship were asked, "How well did classes and practica at Penn State prepare you for school psychology practice?" Responses were provided using a 5-point scale, ranging from Very Good to Good to Fair to Poor to Very Poor where Very Good was equal to 5 and Very Poor equal to 1. All 52 interns chose Very Good or Good. Their mean resonse was 4.72 with a median of 5.0.
At the completion of the internship, field supervisors of Penn State interns were asked, "How would you rate this student's University preparation in school psychology?" Responses were on a five point scale, ranging from Very Good to Good to Fair to Poor to Very Poor where Very Good was equal to 5 and Very Poor equal to 1. For 33 field supervisors, the mean rating was 4.94 and the median was 5.0. Students who completed their internship during the past four years received mean ratings of 5.0 and median ratings of 5.0.
