Error Effect

The error effect is the combined influence of all the uncontrolled variables in an experimental situation. In regression analyses, this error is often indicated by measuring the Sums of Squares due to Residuals or more simply the Residual Sum of Squares. In typical ANOVA courses, this error effect is given the name Within Group Sum of Squares.
