Correlational Method

The correlational method of research looks for relationships between variables by calculating the correlation coefficient. Often, statistics texts talk about the inability of correlational research to establish "cause and effect" . Actually cause and effect relationships are established by research design, and have nothing to do with the mathmatical way in which the variables are manipulated.
